Step 1 - Open Account Settings
Open Outlook. Click on Tools along the top menu bar and choose Account Settings....
Step 2 - Add a New Account
With the E-mail tab selected, click on the New... button.
Step 3 - Manually Configure Settings
At the bottom, check off the Manually configure server settings or additional server types box.
Step 4 - Choose E-mail Service
Select Internet E-mail to create an email account.
Step 5 - User Information
Enter your full display name in the Your Name: field and your U of A email address in the E-mail Address: field. Choose IMAP as the Account Type.
Step 6 - Server Information
Choose IMAP as the Account Type. The Incoming mail server is: imap.srv.ualberta.ca
The Outgoing mail server (IMAP) is: smtp.srv.ualberta.ca.
Step 7 - Logon Information
Enter your CCID in the User Name: password in the Password: field.
Check the Remember password box if you do not wish to be prompted for your CCID password every time you use Outlook.
Click the More Settings... button when you have finished.
Step 8 - Advanced Settings
Click on the Advanced tab.
For the Incoming Server (IMAP), from "Use the following type of encrypted connection:" select SSL and change the port to 993.
For the Outgoing Server (SMTP), from "Use the following type of encrypted connection:" also select SSL and change the port to 465.
Step 9 - Outgoing Server Settings
Click the Outgoing Server tab.
Check the box beside: My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and the radio button for Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
Step 10 - Setup Complete
Click Next, then Finish. Your U of A email is now configured.
Instructions for POP (Outlook 2007)
Step 1 - Open Account Settings
Open Outlook. Click on Tools along the top menu bar and choose Account Settings....
Step 2 - Add a New Account

At the bottom, check off the Manually configure server settings or additional server types box.
Step 4 - Choose E-mail Service
Select Internet E-mail to create an email account.
Step 5 - User Information
Enter your full display name in the Your Name: field and your U of A email address in the E-mail Address: field. Choose IMAP as the Account Type.
Step 6 - Server Information
Choose IMAP as the Account Type. The Incoming mail server is: pop.srv.ualberta.ca
The Outgoing mail server (IMAP) is: smtp.srv.ualberta.ca.

Step 10 - Optional Setting (Leave Mail on Server)
Important additional info for POP users:
You may want the option to leave your mail on the server. This is ideal if you check your e-mail from more than one location.
To turn this option on:
1. Go to Tools > Accounts.
2. Select your e-mail account and click on the Properties button.
3. Click the Advanced tab.
4. Put a checkmark in front of Leave a copy of messages on server. Click on OK.
Step 11 - Setup Complete
Click Next, then Finish. Your U of A email is now configured.
