- On this new page, there will be a list of software packages that are available, in one way or another, for use. Click the Symantec AntiVirus link.
You will be scrolled down the page to the summary on Symantec AntiVirus. Click the HERE link (it should be the only link in the summary).

In order to download and install Symantec AntiVirus, you will need to agree to the license agreement that is now in your browser window. First, click the Operating System Menu and select your operating system.

To agree to the license agreement, read the paragraphs and select Yes for each of the pull-down menus. Once you have done this, click the button labeled I declare the above is true.

A dialog box will pop to authenticate you. Type your RCS user ID and password in their respective fields.

You will be asked whether you want to save the file to disk or open it from its current location. Click the Open button (you may click the Save button instead, if you wish, but make sure that you remember where the file is saved).

After the installation file finishes downloadin, the extractor should run (If you saved the file to disk, double click its icon). Click the OK button when the first box pops up.

When the menu box appears, click the Setup button.

After the files have been extracted, the installer will run. At the welcome screen, click the Next button.

To install the AntiVirus software, you must agree to Symantec's license agreement. To agree to the terms that it specifies, select the choice I accept the terms in the license agreement and then click the Next button.

The next screen will allow you to set options regarding your email clients. It is recommended that you leave these options alone and click the Next button.

Now you will be asked to specify a location in which to install Symantec AntiVirus. The default location is reasonable, so unless you wish to change it, click the Next button.

On the next page, make sure to select the Unmanaged option if it is not already selected.

Filesystem Realtime Protection should be selected by default. If it is not, select it, as this is how Symantec AntiVirus monitors your system.

On the next screen is the option to run Live Update after installation. It is a good idea to do this frequently, as it keeps your virus checker up to date. You will need to be connected to the internet whenever you wish to update this program. Click the Next button.

Now that you have told the installer how you want to install Symantec AntiVirus, click the Install button to begin copying files to their appropriate destinations.

Once all of the files have been installed, the LiveUpdate program will run. Click the Next button to connect to Symantec's server and check for updates.

If updates are available, LiveUpdate will install them. Otherwise, you will see a screen stating that all Symantec products are up to date. Either way, click the Finish button to continue.

The next screen gives information on where to go for virus information and technical support. Click the Next button.

Finally, the installation finishes. Click the Finish button to close the installer. Symantec AntiVirus is now installed on your system.

In the lower right corner of your screen, in the system tray, you should see a yellow icon. This indicates that the real-time protection program is active. Even though this program runs constantly, you should perform full virus scans of your hard drives from time to time.
