Faculty/Staff: DotCIO is continuing to work with departmental system administrators to better understand how Vista fits within our existing computing. We advise you to work with your departmental system administrator for guidance on upgrading to Vista. Students: - Graduating Students: Before you graduate, you have the opportunity to upgrade to Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate. (However, we do not recommend installing Vista on a laptop older than a T42, because these machines don't have the hardware capability or memory to handle its requirements.) First, you must purchase a single installation CD for $20 at the Campus Computer Store. The product key is on the media. Bring a copy of your laptop status page from SIS to prove that you are participating in the Mobile Computing Program. After you have purchased the CD, you can choose to either install Vista from the CD yourself or re-image your laptop at the Help Desk.
- Returning Students: We suggest that you wait until the fall to upgrade to Windows Vista Ultimate. At that time, there will be an image available for your laptop and more testing will be completed.
