If you are interested in installing either Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS or WS, please contact the VCC Help Desk by either stopping by in person, calling ext. 7777, or via e-mail. A DotCIO staff member will contact you to arrange for the installation and update of your Red Hat Enterprise Linux software.

As a result of DotCIO having recently completed an annual educational site subscription agreement with Red Hat, Inc., both Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS (Advanced Server) and Red Hat Enterprise WS (Workstation) Academic Edition are now available to Rensselaer faculty and staff at no cost. (However, the site subscription does not include e-mail or telephone support from Red Hat, Inc.)

Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS is suitable for department and enterprise servers, while Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS is ideal for desktop deployments such as engineering or software development, or for a compute node in a high-performance computing system.
