Outlook 2007 on a non-ADILSTU Computer

Follow these steps to set up Outlook 2007 for Exchange on a computer that does not belong to ADILSTU. These instructions apply to most personally-owned computers.

  1. If you are off campus, connect with VPN. For more information, refer to 1091: Connecting with Cisco VPN Client for Windows.
  2. Click Start > Control Panel.
  3. If your Control Panel says, Pick a category, click Switch to Classic View on the left.
  4. Double-click the Mail icon.
    Then, click Add and in the Profile Name box, type ISU Exchange, and then click OK.
    - OR -
    Click E-mail Accounts... and then click New.
    Note: If you do not have a Mail icon, open Outlook 2007 instead.
  5. If you are prompted to select an account to set up, select Microsoft Exchange and click Next.
  6. Select Manually configure server settings or select additional server types and click Next.
  7. Select Microsoft Exchange and click Next.
  8. In the box labeled Microsoft Exchange server type ad.ilstu.edu and enter your ULID in the box labeled User Name. Then click Next.
  9. Click Finish.
  10. You will be prompted to log in. In the User Name box, enter adilstu\yourULID. For example, Reggie Redbird enters adilstu\rrredbi as his user name. In the Password box, enter your password.

You can now use Outlook 2007 with Exchange.

Outlook 2007 on an ADILSTU Computer

Follow these steps to set up Outlook 2007 for Exchange on a computer that belongs to ADILSTU. These instructions apply to most office computers on campus.

  1. Click Start > Control Panel.
  2. If your Control Panel says, Pick a category, click Switch to Classic View on the left.
  3. Double-click the Mail icon.
    Then, click Add and in the Profile Name box, type ISU Exchange, and then click OK.
    - OR -
    Click E-mail Accounts... and then click New.
    Note: If you do not have a Mail icon, open Outlook 2007 instead.
  4. Depending on your computer, you may see some or all of the following:
    • If you are asked, Would you like to configure an E-mail account? Select Yes and click Next.
    • If you are prompted to select an account to set up, select Microsoft Exchange and click Next.
    • If you are prompted to enter your personal information, complete all fields and click Next.
  5. Outlook will attempt to automatically find and set up your access to Exchange.
  6. You should see three green check marks appear, as well as the statement, Your e-mail account is successfully configured to use Microsoft Exchange.
  7. Click Finish.

You can now use Outlook 2007 with Exchange.

Off-campus users: To check your email from off campus, you need to first establish a VPN connection using either the Cisco VPN Client or Network Connect in WebVPN.
