Auto-Accept

A resource can be configured to auto-accept. It will automatically accept any meeting invitation, so long as there is no conflict. If a conflict is found, the meeting invitation is declined.

If you want a resource to auto-accept meeting invitations, you must send a request to exchangehelp@ilstu.edu. The Exchange administrators will configure the resource to auto-accept. When the resource has been configured, you will be notified via email.

Moderated

A resource can be moderated by a human delegate. When the resource is invited to a meeting, the delegate will receive the invitation instead. The delegate must accept or decline the invitation on behalf of the resource. Moderated resources never accept or decline automatically.

To set up a moderated resource, you must log in to the resource account and set up a delegate. To do so, you must know the user name and password for the resource.

Configure Outlook

To set up a moderated resource, you must launch Outlook using the Run as... command. Then set up Outlook with the resource's account settings. After Outlook is configured, you can add a delegate.

There are many different types of calendar resources. Two common examples are:

  • Location resource - Used to reserve a location, like a conference room.
  • Equipment resource - Used to reserve a piece of equipment, like a laptop.

Resources can be set up in two ways:

  • Auto-Accept - The resource automatically accepts meetings it's invited to, so long as there are no conflicts.
  • Moderated - The resource is moderated by a delegate. The delegate is responsible for accepting or declining meetings on behalf of the resource.
