Follow these steps to scan your computer with Spybot Search & Destroy. If you have not already done so, download and install Spybot Search and Destroy.

If you just installed Spybot Search & Destroy, the Spybot S&D Wizard will appear. Click Next to pass through the wizard without completing any of its steps. The proceed with the directions below.

1. Open Spybot & Search & Destroy.
2. Click Search for Updates.
3. Each update is displayed with a check box next to it. Right-click anywhere on the updates and click Select All. (Figure 1)
4. Click Download Updates to begin downloading and installing the Spybot updates. When Spybot is finished updating, it will close and re-open. This is normal.
5. Click Check for problems. Spybot will begin scanning your computer. When the scan is complete, Spybot will list any malicious programs it found. (Figure 2)
6. Click Fix selected problems and Spybot will begin removing the malicious software. A green check mark appears next to each item Spybot was able to remove. (Figure 3)

When Spybot is finished, you can close it. It is recommended that you restart your computer after scanning.
